They have been living with us for thousands of years, and while once close to extinction, the Semblant are now making a resurgence. These genetically advanced beings with heightened libidos also have psychic abilities that can influence, modify and alter the experience and memories of others. They have the ability to hijack another’s identity - sometimes by mutual agreement, sometimes not. They strive to make life or death better for those they meet, but it is important to note that not all Semblant are created equal!

Genre Change - Erotic Horror

I've been writing suspense fiction thriller style novels for a number of years now. My last couple of books have skirted along the edge of horror. So now I've decided to embrace this and pursue a horror story!

In addition, I thought why not write an erotic horror? This can be a challenge, as the erotic elements need to run true with the horror story and not be seen simply as add on sex scenes. Twenty chapters in, and I think I have accomplished this so far... although of course that will ultimately be for the reader to judge.

Writing about sex without using old cliched jargon is important, as is writing something that has a fresh feel to it - not just the old rumpy pumpy.

While I am not yet at the halfway mark, I feel a degree of renewed enthusiasm embarking on this journey. I'm even already having thoughts of a possible sequel.

New fiction - "EZEKIEL" plus trailer

My suspense fiction novel "EZEKIEL: Madman, Mastermind or Messiah?" is now available for pre-sale (order) with shipping on 22nd November. The paperback is also available through Amazon anywhere on the globe! The eBook will be available within a week also on Amazon and for a ridiculously low price!! For an autographed copy direct from me go to https://bobgoodwin.square.site/ - limited time low price during pre-sale period.

This is a coming of age thriller. Starting with Ezekiel as a 7 year old, and taking him through to his mid twenties. It can also be described as dark fiction.

"As a child Ezekiel Jeremiah Kaufman was not quite the same as other kids. It seemed he had a special gift, not that as a child it was something he ever wanted. This gift gave him a unique connection with God and manifested itself with episodes of heightened prophetic and sensory ability.  Others, even some close to him, didn’t support his views, forcing mental health incarceration and treatment upon him.

As the years passed, he developed increasing control and understanding of his abilities. But there was an evil out there. He could sense it and at times feel it. It struck out at those he knew and those he tried to help.  Lives had been lost and the innocent hurt. The Evil One was gathering strength and developing into a maestro of pain, torture and death. It became Ezekiel’s mission to find this monster and, God willing, put an end to the carnage."

Had fun putting the trailer together!

"Ezekiel: Madman, Mastermind or Messiah?" - new suspense fiction coming soon! See cover image below.

This is a "coming of age" thriller and the first of this kind for me. It is book number 7, and for those that have read some of my other books you will notice some familiar characters. Of course, this is a stand alone novel, and there is no need to have read the others to enjoy this one.

The novel starts with Ezekiel seeing a psychiatrist at age 7 years. The book concludes with him in his mid 20's. The back cover story outline is below...

It became Ezekiel’s mission to find this monster and, God willing, put an end to the carnage.

"Ezekiel: Madman, Mastermind or Messiah?" is close to launch! Pre-order will go live on 31st October with all orders being shipped on the 16th November." The eBook will be available on Amazon (cheap as chips!) from the 5th November.

Marketing NOT!!!!

I am close to finishing my new book and have been looking around for marketing help (as I have done many times before). There are plenty of offers... even plenty of FREE offers. But as it turns out FREE is never really FREE. You get some introductory information, even a video or webinar that promises so much. Shows you pics and bios plus stories of those that are alleged to have made it. After this there is the bombard of emails congratulating you on completing the webinar and asking you to take the next step towards your successful progression as a writer! Further clicks reveal the bottom line - often hundreds of dollars - sometimes as little as a hundred dollars a month! Wow! This is not a fun journey. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that people would lie to get money or stretch the truth as far as it will go for a few bucks.

Even legitimate book promotion agencies cost so much. I'm talking like in the thousands of dollars. About a year ago I posted my most recent book to an agent to pass on to a producer for a read and consideration, that was only after the agent suggested this option.  I had no reply for seven months. I then started sending emails to get a reply - after the fifth email, and a year later, I received a reply that the person in question was too busy and would not be reading my novel. Hmm.... let's just add that to the hundred other rejections.

You probably sense my frustration here. I do this stupid annoying journey every couple of years. I enjoy the writing process and getting that a lovely, edited hardcopy in my hands is extremely rewarding. I need to focus on this, and on my loyal contingent of readers who love and always grab a copy of my latest book.

Starting a New Book - ideas to ponder on!

My next suspense fiction novel (number 7) is underway. Starting a new book is challenging on so many levels. For me, I try to piece together a loose idea of the storey. With all my books I have never had the complete structure in my head when I start. It tends to gather it's on momentum from chapter to chapter with surprises twists and turns even for me, the writer. It's a wonderful journey. How will it work for you?

I have never had much trouble in finding ideas for stories. I guess 35 years working in mental health helps. Writing about what I know well flows nicely - there is no end of unusual and robust characters that I have encountered over the years. Having said that, there are always areas where I need to update my knowledge - e.g. weapons, geography, vehicles, housing, dress and customs for particular time periods - and many more. Naturally the internet is most helpful, Google Earth has often be a close companion. Outside of the WWW though there are libraries full of old records (newspapers and magazines), there is personal travel to the place which you write about (if that's possible these days!!!), sitting at a shopping centre people watching is always fun - looking at faces, how people dress, how they carry themselves - even trying to imagine what their occupation might be or what their living condition may be like. It should go without saying that reading a lot will improve your writing craft. Maybe you can add to this list.

Sometimes having a casual or more formal chat with someone may help and be more useful than an internet search - e.g. local police, managers of businesses, nurses, doctors, lawyers etc.

Good luck with your next writing adventure and remember "don't get it right, jut get it written"
